Job summary

Acis is seeking an Employability Tutor to deliver a rich employability programme and NCFE qualifications, supporting learners from initial assessment through progression. You will work 1-2-1 and with groups, ensuring attendance, achievement and progression while collaborating with local services to offer a holistic package.

You will contribute to curriculum development, oversee quality assurance of teaching, and prepare, deliver and evaluate sessions and learning materials for each course.

Qualifications

  • Willingness and ability to deliver a range of courses beyond your primary area of expertise.
  • Understanding/experience working with SEND learners
  • Qualification in Mentoring, Advice and Guidance or similar
  • Comfort delivering both 1-2-1 and group sessions
  • Knowledge of planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation of learning
  • Commitment to learners' personal and occupational success
  • Awareness of funded projects including European social funded projects
  • Ability to work as part of a team under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding barriers faced by unemployed/inactive people and solutions

Responsibilities

  • Carry out an initial assessment using tools to help learners plan and progress.

  • Work with Employability Lead to ensure quality across the learner's programme.
  • Manage a learner's journey, ensuring attendance, achievement and progression.
  • Review progress and maintain proactive engagement and planning of steps to success.
  • Build relationships with local support services to offer a holistic package.
  • Help learners into work and support employers.
  • Complete learner records and monitoring reports with proper evidence.

Job description

Our employment coaches have two key skills – the ability to deliver 1-2-1 support to help people plan and reach their goals, and

the ability to teach groups to help people gain skills to achieve their goals. Each role is 50/50 to ensure we continue to support

people and deliver training that’s fit for people’s aspirations.

Every coach has a core subject specialism they can teach and are qualified to deliver through numerous levels so we can offer

progression to our customers. Additionally, all deliver a wide and varied curriculum around life skills, enrichment, wellbeing and

employability – all core to our curriculum.

As an Employability Tutor, a typical day might include:

  • Carrying out an initial assessment, using our suite of assessment tools including skills Builder and Unifrog, to help them make
  • Delivery of a rich employability programme, including NCFE qualifications and external enrichment activities/visits.
  • Working alongside the Employability Lead to ensure quality throughout the learners programme.
  • Managing a learners for their whole journey with us – ensuring attendance, achievement and progression.
  • reviewing their progress and helping them succeed through regular contact, proactive engagement and active planning of
  • Building relationships with a wide range of other local support services to ensure we can offer a full and holistic package of
  • Achieving targets to get people into work and support them and employers in
  • Completing learner records and monitoring reports in line with the programme, ensuring evidence is collated and stored in line
  • Contributing to curriculum development across your subject areas of expertise, bringing innovation, energy and excitement to
  • Being responsible for Quality Assurance of your teaching to ensure our learners receive the best service possible, welcoming people from across the team into the teaching setting to observe learning, get involved and help learners achieve.
  • Planning, preparing, delivering and evaluating all the sessions and courses you deliver
  • Preparing plans, schemes of work and learning materials for each session, making them available for monitoring or lesson observation visits and maintaining them.
  • Supporting the delivery of events, workshops, and activities to increase opportunities for our learners.
The must haves:
  • A willingness and ability to deliver a range of courses beyond your primary area of expertise with an enthusiasm to develop your skills to adapt our delivery to the needs of our learners.
  • An understanding of/experience working with SEND learners
  • Qualification in Mentoring, Advice and Guidance or similar
  • Are comfortable with, and can deliver, both 1-2-1 and group sessions in their role.
  • L3 Award in Education and Training (formerly PTLLS) or Teaching qualification, and/or willingness to undergo further training to achieve this.
  • An understanding of the principles underpinning teaching young people, i.e., planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation of learning.
  • A genuine commitment to the personal and occupational success of learners
  • Knowledge funded projects including European social funded projects.
  • Ability to work as a team, under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • A good understanding of the barriers faced by unemployed and inactive people, and the solutions that may be able to benefit them.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others, whether in the same team or external support providers.

  • Qualifications in your subject specialism (to at least Level 3 equivalent), or an in-depth knowledge and substantial experience in the subject area.
  • Awareness of the needs of underachieving and disengaged young people
  • Ability to deal with challenging behaviour at times.
  • An understanding of the different local services available for customers
  • You’re interested in supporting the wider team with our wellbeing activities, learning opportunities or employment support – and have some skills to offer in this area.
  • You’ll be adept at change, having got hands‑on experience living and breathing new ways of working and knowing how to bring your colleagues along for the experience.
