A strong tutor can help someone see opportunities they had stopped believing were possible.
As an Employability Tutor, you will help people build the confidence, skills and workplace behaviours they need to move towards sustainable employment.
You will design and deliver accredited Employability and Customer Service courses, run practical employability workshops and help learners apply what they have learned to real vacancies.
This is a role where you can see people develop from one session to the next, and know that your teaching has helped them take a meaningful step towards work.
This role combines teaching, coaching and employment-focused delivery.
You will:
Success is not measured only by delivering the planned content. It is measured by whether learners engage, develop, complete their programme and become better prepared to move into employment.
You will balance encouragement with accountability and model the punctuality, preparation and professionalism you are teaching.
You may start by reviewing your lesson plan, learner progress and attendance before preparing the resources for your first session.
Your morning could involve delivering a structured workshop on interview techniques, workplace communication or customer service. Some learners will participate confidently; others may need encouragement, additional explanation or a firmer reminder of expectations.
You will manage the group, adapt activities where necessary and make sure the session remains purposeful.
The rewarding part is seeing learners become more confident, capable and ready to present themselves to employers.
You will need to be comfortable with:
This role will suit someone who enjoys teaching but also values structure, clear standards and measurable results. It is not a role where administration and learner outcomes sit separately from teaching, they are fundamental parts of it.
We are looking for evidence of:
Experience in employability, welfare to work, adult learning or community training would be valuable.
You should also understand that publicly funded training must meet contractual and quality requirements. We need someone who can protect the quality of learning while keeping delivery focused on progression and employment.
You will:
Within your first 90 days, you should be confidently delivering accredited courses, managing groups and maintaining accurate learner records.
Your sessions should be structured and engaging, with learners understanding what is expected of them and how the programme connects with employment.
We would also expect to see:
You will receive structured induction, management support and regular feedback.
You will have the opportunity to use your teaching skills in a role with visible social impact.
Benefits include:
You will also develop wider experience in accredited learning, employability, learner progression and employer‑led delivery.
