Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking an Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties Teaching Assistant to join a full-time, long-term role in Hillingdon starting October 2026. You will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH, ASD, and ADHD in a nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will use positive behaviour strategies, build relationships, and collaborate with teachers and specialists to support learners' wellbeing and progress across the school day.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, and ADHD.
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviours using positive support.
  • Team Teach or similar training is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS (Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Proactive, reliable and compassionate approach.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
  • Full-time availability from October 2026.
  • Eligible to attend trial days ASAP.

Location: Hillingdon (between Northolt and Southall)

Start Date: October 2026

Trial Days: Available ASAP

Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term (Potential for a Permanent Position)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 4:15pm

Salary: Competitive (Dependent on Experience)

About the School

Axcis Education is delighted to be working with an Ofsted Outstanding special primary school in Hillingdon, renowned for its nurturing ethos, exceptional leadership, and outstanding provision for pupils with additional needs. The school caters for approximately 100 pupils, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Pupils have a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and ADHD. Staff work collaboratively to provide a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.

The Role

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting pupils with a range of additional needs across the school. You will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils engage with learning, develop positive relationships, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will be patient, resilient, and confident in using positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH, ASD, and ADHD.
  • Create a calm, safe, and engaging learning environment.
  • Implement positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
  • Support pupils' emotional wellbeing, independence, and academic progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Encourage participation in learning through consistent routines and positive reinforcement.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, ASD, and/or ADHD.
  • Confidence managing behaviours that challenge using positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Team Teach (or similar behaviour management training) is highly desirable.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • A proactive, reliable, and compassionate approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEND.
  • Full-time availability from October 2026.
  • Availability to attend trial days as soon as possible.
