Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant in Yeovil to support SEMH and SEND students on a full-time basis.

You will work with teachers and pastoral staff to help pupils engage with learning, build confidence, and develop positive behaviours in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential? Do you have personal or professional experience supporting individuals with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

Location: Yeovil. Pay £95 - £105 per day. Full-Time | Monday to Friday. Immediate Start Available.

Axcis Education is working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Yeovil seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. The Role

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH and SEND needs, helping them to engage positively with learning and develop the confidence to succeed both academically and socially. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff, providing support within lessons, small groups, and on a 1:1 basis where required.

The Ideal Candidate

• Have personal or professional experience supporting individuals with SEMH or SEND
• Have worked as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, Care Worker, Behaviour Mentor, or in a similar role
• Are patient, empathetic, and resilient
• Have excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
• Are passionate about helping young people succeed
• Can remain calm and positive when faced with challenges
