Job summary

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service invites applications for two temporary Fire Control Operator posts. The roles run until April 2028, with potential for one to become permanent subject to succession planning and team needs.

In the control room you will answer 999 calls calmly, gather critical information, and ensure the right appliances and crews are dispatched with the right equipment. You will support crews by relaying incident messages as the incident progresses.

Qualifications

• Experience in a call-taking environment preferred.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Level-headed, enthusiastic and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Answer 999 calls in a calm and professional manner.
• Gather critical information and dispatch the correct fire and rescue appliance and crews.
• Take receipt of incident messages and support crews with operational requirements as incidents progress.
