Job summary

Northumbria Police seeks an Emergency Contact Handler Apprentice to join our Communications Department. You will be the first point of contact, remaining calm and professional while gathering information from callers and evaluating emergencies.

The program blends on-the-job training with classroom learning and leads to a nationally recognised certificate on completion. You will train for a level 3 apprenticeship, work varied shifts, and receive mentoring and support.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications are required; however, candidates must demonstrate competent typing, listening and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Gather information from callers and record key messages accurately.
• Input data into police IT systems and access force databases to support frontline officers.
• Assess vulnerability and provide a high-quality service to victims and customers.
