Job summary

Nusku is building an innovative, connected heating system to accelerate the UK heat transition. The embedded engineer will own the core controller software, coordinate subsystems, and ensure safety‑critical operation across a distributed system.

You will design deterministic control logic, integrate sensors and actuators, and work with electronics, software and manufacturing partners to bring robust products to market.

Qualifications

• Strong experience developing and debugging production embedded C for microcontrollers and resource-constrained systems.
• Experience integrating embedded software with sensors, actuators and hardware interfaces.
• Experience with industrial or device communications protocols and diagnosing communication problems.
• Rigorous automated testing, code review, version control and documentation practices.
• Sound judgement when developing software that controls physical equipment, including interlocks and safe states.
• Strong collaboration and communication across electronics, software and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop production embedded C software for a core product controller and its interfaces.
• Design deterministic control logic, state machines, interlocks and safe-state behaviour.
• Integrate sensors, actuators and hardware interfaces into a reliable embedded system.
• Implement robust wired, wireless and industrial communications with diagnostics.
• Create automated unit, integration and hardware-in-the-loop tests including fault-injection tests.
• Debug firmware on bench, during verification, and in field trials for durable improvements.
• Collaborate with software, electronics, mechanical design, systems and manufacturing teams.
• Extend a common embedded C platform across connected in-home products over time.
