Job summary

CBRE Local UK is seeking an Electrical Technician to support reactive and planned maintenance of building electrical systems across sites in Cardiff and surrounding areas.

You will perform fault finding, repairs, and small works projects, ensuring compliance with BS7671 and safety standards while coordinating with the AFM and Projects teams. Apprenticeship-backed training and recognized electrical qualifications are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an apprenticeship or equivalent in electrical installation and maintenance with practical experience.
• Must hold a City and Guilds level 3 technical certificate in electrical discipline.
• Must hold City and Guilds 2382 Level 3 BS 7671 or equivalent (or obtain within 3 months).
• Hold Level 3 NVQ diploma in Electrical Installation or Maintenance (e.g., City and Guilds 2357).
• AM2, JIB skills card and relevant electrical compliance training are required.
• Formal training in UPS systems and generators is expected.
• PASMA / IPAF, confined space/work at height, and HV training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain LV electrical distribution, power, lighting systems, and PPM routines.
• Maintain equipment and fixtures connected to electrical systems.
• Deliver small works projects in collaboration with Projects/Construction team.
• Ensure repairs/installations comply with BS7671 wiring regulations.
• Assist in handover and snagging of new installations for maintenance readiness.
• Fault find and repair on low voltage AC/DC control systems.
• Ensure test equipment is calibrated and compliant with regulations.
• Complete risk assessments for reactive/planned maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose faults using manufacturer manuals and drawings.
• Liaise with CSC and AFM for response to tasks and updates in Site Log Books.
