Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Electrical Designer to support the preparation of electrical drawings, layouts, and documentation for medium voltage substation projects. You will work under senior engineers to deliver accurate design outputs.

Key responsibilities include drafting, design, and technical documentation, with emphasis on AutoCAD proficiency and adherence to project standards. This role offers hybrid working in a global engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Essential: HNC/HND, Diploma, Associate Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Essential: Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or other design software.
• Essential: Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and substation secondary systems.
• Essential: Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
• Essential: Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Essential: Ability to work under supervision while managing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Drafting and design: prepare electrical drawings for substation secondary systems including protection, control and communication.
• Produce wiring diagrams, cable schedules, block diagrams, and equipment layouts.
• Assist with cable routing, trench layouts and equipment arrangement drawings.
• Technical support: prepare technical documentation for secondary systems and ensure designs comply with standards.
