Electrical / Senior Electrical Engineer (Building Services), Edinburgh

This role is with a successful MEP consultancy based in Edinburgh, involved in various private and public sector projects. They seek an experienced Electrical Building Services Design Engineer or Senior Engineer to manage multiple small-scale projects, including commercial fit-outs, local authority work, decarbonisation studies, and condition surveys.

Responsibilities

• Understanding project briefs and designing electrical systems such as power, lighting, earthing, life safety, telecoms, security, lifts, and lightning protection.
• Producing detailed calculations using industry-standard software like Excel, Dialux, Amtech, and Revit.
• Representing the company in meetings with clients and contractors.
• Conducting site surveys, inspections, and monitoring construction activities.
• Preparing reports and technical notes, maintaining comprehensive records.
• Adhering to quality, environmental, and governance standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Building Services or Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered or working towards chartership with CIBSE or IET preferred.
• 5-10 years of experience in a design consultancy or similar environment.
• Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment is advantageous.
• Strong report writing and client presentation skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, Amtech, Relux, Dialux; Revit is a plus.
