Colchester Institute is seeking a Lecturer – Course Leader in Electrical Installation to help shape the electricians of the future. The role blends high-quality teaching with leadership responsibilities within the Mechanical and Electrical Services team.

We welcome experienced electricians transitioning into education, with full training and support to gain teaching qualifications. Opportunities for both full-time and part-time appointments are available, reflecting a commitment to workforce

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on experience as a practising electrician.
• Willingness to complete a teaching qualification within 3 years.
• Assessor TAQA or equivalent and IQA Level 4 Award or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in Electrical Installation.
• Mark learner work, design assessments and create engaging learning materials.
• Monitor learner standards and ensure an outstanding learner experience.
• Use e-portfolios to track learner progress and maintain digital records.
• Provide academic and pastoral support through Individual Learning Plans.
• Manage and administer allocated units to meet programme requirements.
• Promote Electrical Installation courses through school liaison, open evenings and marketing events.
• Engage with employers to organise work experience and live projects.
• Contribute to quality monitoring and continuous improvement.
