Job summary

Burton and South Derbyshire College is seeking an Electrical Installation Course Leader to join the Construction Academy in Swadlincote. You will bring current industry experience and deliver high quality teaching, inspiring learners and developing specialist courses in a purpose-built facility.

You should hold relevant qualifications and be willing to pursue Level 2 English and Maths as needed; teaching qualifications are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Qualified in electrical installation with current industry experience.
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards it.
  • Ability to deliver high quality vocational teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality teaching within the Construction Academy.
  • Inspire learners and develop specialist industry courses as required.
  • Engage learners from day one and support progression to qualifications.

Electrical Installation Course Leader (Tutor)
Full time: 37 hours per week (Part Time considered)
Location: The Stephen Burke Construction Academy, Swadlincote
Salary: Up to £36,590 per annum (pro rata for fractional posts)

£4,500 ‘Golden Hello’ staged over 3 years
Bursary up to £1,800 per year (qualification level dependent)

PLUS, sponsorship for completion of education and industry qualifications including but not limited to:

  • Level 3-5 Education & Teaching
  • Level 3 TAQA Assessor Qualification
  • Level 4 TAQA Internal Quality Assurance Qualification
  • Level 4 HNC in Construction /Civil Engineering

Who are we looking for?

We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Installation Course Leader to join our growing Construction Academy.

You will bring current industry experience and a passion for your trade, helping to deliver high quality teaching within our purpose-built Construction Academy and Green Skills Centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire the next generation of electricians while supporting the development of skills aligned to the future of sustainable construction.

As part of our enthusiastic and successful Construction team you will bring both industry experience and a fresh teaching style to the department, engaging our learners from day one. Additional development and delivery of specialist industry related courses may also be required.

Whether you’re already teaching or considering a move from industry into education, we welcome individuals with strong electrical expertise who are enthusiastic about developing others.

You will hold relevant qualifications in your subject area. A teaching qualification is desirable for this post or a willingness to work towards the qualifications stated above.

You should be qualified to, or willing to work towards, Level 2 English and Maths. Evidence of qualifications is required.
