Job summary

Burton and South Derbyshire College is seeking a Carpentry and Joinery Course Leader to teach, assess and monitor students from levels 1 to 3 at the Stephen Burke Construction Academy in Swadlincote. The role may include delivering evening classes and liaising with management and other departments.

Industrial and commercial carpentry/joinery experience is essential, with a teaching qualification, assessor award, and willingness to progress Level 2 English and Maths.

Qualifications

• Qualified to teach Carpentry and Joinery at levels 1–3 with relevant industry experience.
• Desirable: teaching qualification and assessor award.
• Experience with apprenticeship systems and operations.

Responsibilities

• Teach, assess, and monitor full-time and Apprentice students.
• Support and facilitate student learning and liaise with management.
• May deliver part-time evening courses as required.

Who are we looking for?We are looking for a Carpentry and Joinery Lecturer to join our professional construction team based at our Stephen Burke Construction Academy in Swadlincote. You will teach, assess, and monitor full time and Apprentice students engaged in programmes from levels 1 to 3, supporting and facilitating student learning, and whilst liaising closely with management and other departments. As part of this role, you may also be required to deliver part-time evening courses.Industrial and commercial experience within the carpentry and joinery industry is essential, along with an understanding and knowledge of apprenticeship systems and operations. An appropriate teaching qualification, an Assessor award, and teaching experience would be desirable.Applicants should be qualified to, or willing to work towards, Level 2 English and Maths. Evidence of qualifications is required.
