Job summary

Lancer Scott, based in Bristol, is seeking a Multi Skilled Electrical Improver to support electrical work across the UWE estate and other projects. You will assist with pre-planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and the installation and testing of electrical systems, using initiative to source parts and expert guidance as needed.

Applicants should have an NVQ Level 2 in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years in building maintenance, and a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years' experience in building maintenance (planned/reactive/remedial).
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• IOSH Working Safely or CSCS Card.

Responsibilities

• Support pre-planned maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
• Perform reactive and remedial repairs as directed by Helpdesk.
• Plan and complete works including installation and testing of electrical systems.
• Source parts and obtain manufacturer technical support as needed.
• Provide detailed written reports of works carried out and maintain logs.
• Complete tasks within agreed timescales and comply with regulations.
• Record procedures and risk assessments to minimise hazards.
• Use PDAs or electronic devices to document work.
• Coordinate with control hub for efficient response, solo or in a team.
• Observe health and safety at all times and conduct task risk assessments.
• Provide out-of-hours cover on a rota (1 in 6).

Job Description

As a Multi Skilled Electrical Improver you will support our full range of electrical work from complex repairs to the resolution of minor issues, as well as our test and inspect work based up at the University of West of England.

• Support the completion of pre-planned maintenance of electrical equipment and systems across the UWE estate.
• Completion of reactive and remedial repairs associated with the electrical systems following testing and inspections as directed by the Helpdesk.
• Play a key role in planning and completing a range of works associated with the electrical systems, which will also include installation and testing of these systems.
• Use initiative to solve complicated technical problems associated with reactive maintenance activities, including sourcing parts & materials and seeking manufacturer technical support.
• Provide detailed write-ups of works carried out to ensure our client is kept up to date at all times.
• Carry out all works within agreed timescales and to the highest standards, ensuring that you comply with current regulations and contract specifications.
• Report and record procedures, including operation and maintenance logs and control measures to minimise risks.
• Utilise PDAs or electronic devices to complete works.
• Liaise closely with our control hub to ensure efficient response to all works either working on your own or as part of a team.
• Observe the highest levels of health and safety at all times, including carrying out point of work risk assessments for every task to ensure the best possible working practices are adhered to.
• Provide regular out-of-hours cover on a rota system, typically 1 in 6.

Qualifications

• Minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• Hold a minimum of 3+ years' experience in a building maintenance role, particularly in relation to planned, reactive and remedial maintenance
• Current Full UK Driver's License
• IOSH – Working safely or CSCS Card
