Job summary

Crown Peterborough is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a shift-based, site-focused role in Peterborough. You will maintain and optimise electrical systems to keep the production line running with minimal downtime, while adhering to safety standards.

The role requires a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering (electrical bias), plus experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and fault‑finding in high-speed manufacturing. A proactive, collaborative mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Formal apprenticeship or equivalent in electrical engineering with a bias towards electrical/mechatronic systems.
• Proven fault-finding experience in high-speed manufacturing environments.
• Experience with PLC programming and electrical control systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise electrical systems across the plant to minimize production disruption.
• Perform fault-finding, repairs, installation and modification of equipment.
• Analyse line performance, update PLC software, and support continuous improvement to maximise output and reliability.

The Opportunity

In this hands-on technical role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and optimising electrical systems across the plant, ensuring minimal disruption to production and full compliance with safety standards. You'll work closely with our team of engineers to resolve and implement innovative solutions that improve efficiency and performance. From fault-finding and repairs to installation and modification of equipment, you'll play a key role in keeping the production line running at peak performance. This role also involves analysing line performance, updating PLC software, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise output and reliability.

What you'll bring

You'll be a proactive and technically skilled Electrical Engineer with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. You'll thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and be confident working both independently and as part of a team. A Level 3 Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering (with an electrical bias) is essential. Experience in high-speed manufacturing environments, along with knowledge of fault-finding techniques and basic programming, and experience with Allen Bradley PLCs will be highly beneficial. You'll also bring a "can-do" attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to support and collaborate with production teams to minimise downtime and improve performance.
