• Proven track record in electrical building services design for data centres or other mission‑critical environments.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex local and international projects.
• Strong knowledge of UK and international standards, codes of practice and regulatory frameworks.

Our client partners with major operators to design highly resilient, energy-efficient, and future-proof mission-critical facilities. To support their expanding digital infrastructure portfolio, they are seeking an experienced Electrical Building Services Engineer to help lead complex, high-value data centre projects from concept through to delivery.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will play a key leadership position within an established, multidisciplinary MEP and building services division. Working alongside specialists in building physics, sustainability, carbon consultancy, BIM, structural, civil, and fire engineering, you will lead the electrical design strategy for major data centre and mission-critical developments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Design Leadership: Drive low-carbon, highly resilient electrical engineering designs from feasibility and conceptual stages through to final delivery.
• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with internal specialist teams (fire, acoustics, structural, BIM) and external sub-consultants to ensure fully integrated solutions.
• Project & Financial Management: Take ownership of project performance, managing project finances, deliverable schedules, resource allocation, and quality assurance.
• Client Engagement: Act as a main technical point of contact for clients, presenting design solutions and leading technical discussions.
• Team Guidance & Delegation: Lead, mentor, and delegate tasks to junior engineers and design teams, ensuring high standards of technical output under the oversight of the Project Director.
• Digital Transformation: Explore and implement advanced digital tools, workflow automation, and integrated design methods to improve delivery efficiency.

What We Are Looking For

• Qualifications: A degree in Electrical, Building Services, or Architectural Engineering, along with Chartered CEng status through IET, CIBSE, or an equivalent body.
• Sector Expertise: Proven track record in electrical building services design with specific, hands-on experience leading data centre projects or other complex mission-critical environments (e.g., healthcare facilities, laboratories, airports).
• Technical Leadership: Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex local and international projects.
