Beeby Anderson Recruitment is assisting a leading international engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for its Critical Systems division. You will design and deliver electrical building services for data centres, focusing on reliability, energy efficiency and sustainable operation.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and drive design quality across international projects.

Client

We are working with a leading international engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its specialist Critical Systems division.

The business has an established reputation for delivering technically challenging, large-scale data centre developments for major international clients. Its projects range from bespoke mission-critical facilities to the development and implementation of standardised design solutions across global data centre portfolios.

The successful candidate will be involved in the design and delivery of sophisticated electrical building services systems, with particular emphasis on reliability, resilience, energy efficiency and sustainable operation.

Role

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will take responsibility for the technical delivery of electrical design packages, coordinating with other disciplines and contributing to the successful completion of projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the electrical design and delivery of data centre and other mission-critical projects.
• Producing and reviewing electrical calculations, schematics, layouts, specifications and technical reports.
• Managing and coordinating the work of junior and intermediate engineers.
• Overseeing design quality and ensuring compliance with relevant technical standards and project requirements.
• Liaising directly with clients, architects, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Monitoring project programmes, resources and budgets to support efficient project delivery.
• Attending design coordination meetings, site inspections and technical reviews.
• Identifying technical challenges and developing practical, commercially appropriate engineering solutions.
• Supporting the professional development of less experienced team members.
• Collaborating with colleagues across international offices on major projects and global design programmes.

Requirements

You will be an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a strong technical background in building services engineering and the confidence to take responsibility for projects and small engineering teams.

Ideally, you will have previous experience designing electrical systems for data centres or other critical environments, although candidates with relevant experience across other technically demanding building sectors will also be considered.

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Substantial experience in electrical building services design within an engineering consultancy environment.
• Experience managing small to medium-sized projects and supervising engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and associated building services design.
• Experience producing electrical calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of Revit and an understanding of BIM-based design coordination.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing project priorities.
• A proactive approach to technical problem-solving and project delivery.

Experience working on data centres, critical infrastructure or other high-reliability facilities would be particularly advantageous.
