Job summary

ibse is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Mission Critical team in London. You will lead electrical design and delivery for high-profile data centre and critical infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe.

You will mentor junior engineers, review technical documentation, and ensure compliance with UK and international standards while coordinating with clients and multidisciplinary teams to drive successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status, or working towards professional registration, is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of electrical building services systems, including power distribution, standby generation, UPS, lighting, earthing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and delivery of complex mission-critical building services projects from concept to completion.
• Develop, coordinate and review electrical designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to electrical engineers and mentor junior staff.
• Review electrical systems for compliance with regulations and project requirements.
• Manage electrical engineering aspects, liaising with clients, architects, contractors and other disciplines.
• Lead design coordination meetings and technical workshops.

We are working with a leading international building services engineering consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join its growing Mission Critical team in London.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and delivery of complex mission-critical building services projects, from initial concept through to completion.
• Develop, coordinate and review electrical engineering designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to electrical engineers, supporting their professional development and ensuring high standards of design.
• Undertake technical reviews of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards and project requirements.
• Manage electrical engineering aspects of projects, liaising with clients, architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
• Attend and lead design coordination meetings, technical workshops and project reviews.
• Monitor electrical installation works, review contractor submissions and oversee testing and commissioning activities.
• Investigate emerging technologies and innovative engineering solutions, presenting recommendations to clients and project stakeholders.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical processes, design standards and quality assurance procedures.
• Support business development activities, including preparing technical proposals, contributing to tenders and identifying potential project opportunities.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical building services design, ideally in a consultancy environment.
• Previous experience delivering mission-critical projects, particularly data centres or other technically demanding facilities, would be highly advantageous.
• Chartered Engineer status, or working towards professional registration, is desirable.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services systems, including power distribution, standby generation, UPS systems, lighting, earthing and associated infrastructure.
• Good understanding of relevant UK and international electrical design standards, regulations and industry guidance.
• Experience working across all stages of the design and construction process, from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, installation and commissioning.
• Ability to review technical submissions, inspect installations and witness commissioning activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery, programme management and client expectations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• A working understanding of other building services disciplines, including mechanical, public health and fire protection systems, would be beneficial.
