Job summary

Kier Group plc is seeking an Electrical Design Manager to lead the Electrical design on a major Life Sciences project in London, with Harlow-based delivery support. The role requires strong leadership of MEP teams, BIM delivery, and ensuring CDM compliance.

You will work with project management colleagues across Kier to maximise client satisfaction and profitability, while maintaining high design quality and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as an MEP design manager on major projects.
• Experience delivering medium to large schemes within MEP.
• Strong understanding of MEPH services and interfaces.
• Proven leadership and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design and working drawing activities to budget and programme, ensuring deliverables meet project requirements.
• Lead design safety reviews and ensure CDM requirements are incorporated into the design.
• Manage internal and external design teams, establishing clear scopes and responsibilities.
• Implement BIM on projects and ensure the BIM Execution Plan is delivered.
• Build effective relationships with clients and represent KME professionally.

Job description

We're looking for an Electrical Design Manager to join our KME team on a major project in the Life Sciences sector., Location: London. Harlow based for project delivery.Hours: Flexibility on working pattern and hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

As an Electrical Design Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in managing the design process for the Electrical side of a major project, ensuring they meet and exceed customer requirements. You'll work collaboratively with project management teams across Kier to deliver successful outcomes whilst maximising gross profit and customer satisfaction. KME is an internal MEP self-delivery business within the Kier group with over 50 years of experience, supporting projects ranging from £5m to £150m+.

What will you be responsible for?

• Managing the design and working drawing activities to budget and programme, ensuring deliverables meet project requirements
• Leading design safety reviews and ensuring CDM requirements are incorporated into the design
• Managing internal and external design teams, establishing clear scopes and responsibilities
• Implementing BIM on projects and ensuring the project BIM Execution Plan is delivered
• Building effective relationships with clients and representing KME in a proactive and ethical manner

You have significant experience as an MEP design manager working for a main or Tier 1 MEP contractor

• You have demonstrable experience in delivering multiple medium schemes or large complex schemes
• You possess a strong technical understanding of MEPH services and their associated interfaces
• You have proven experience of managing and leading teams to achieve multiple objectives
• You're a proactive problem solver with excellent communication and presentation skills
