Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years' experience within contracting, consulting, or similar sectors specialising in electrical infrastructure.
• Practical experience with HV/EHV systems, working with IDNOs, DNOs, or ICPs.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and IT systems, with strong numeracy skills.
• Hands-on knowledge of BSEN, IEC, IEEE, and CENELEC standards.
• Demonstrated project management capabilities and experience in overseeing design delivery.
• A full UK driving licence and a proactive approach to teamwork and communication.
• Experience with substations, switchgear, and protection device selection.
• Familiarity with energy storage systems such as batteries and solar farm integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical reviews of projects and connection offers from Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and National Grid.
• Develop detailed electrical designs and conceptual layouts for grid connections and private networks ranging from LV to 132kV.
• Oversee the production of single-line diagrams, cable routing, switchgear, transformers, and protection system specifications.
• Conduct cable sizing, protection coordination, and device selection studies to ensure optimal system performance.
• Collaborate closely with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure design integrity and buildability.
• Manage and coordinate design subcontractors, ensuring adherence to standards, policies, and quality benchmarks.
• Support site visits and operational teams to ensure smooth execution and resolve on-site queries.
• Assist with procurement processes, ensuring equipment specifications meet project needs and standards.
• Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality policies throughout the project lifecycle.
