Job summary

PE Global is recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer for a leading multinational manufacturer of industrial machinery and engines for construction and mining, based in Peterborough. This is a 12-month, on-site contract in Peterborough.

The role focuses on translating requirements into detailed electrical designs for electrified machine systems and subsystems, and includes creating schematics, wiring diagrams and harness definitions.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering electrical design in a product development environment.
• Strong harness architecture and release knowledge.
• Proficient in Creo for harness routing and drawings.
• Understanding HV safety principles including insulation coordination.
• Background in automotive/off-highway/industrial machinery.

Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements into detailed electrical designs for electrified machine systems and subsystems.
• Create and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams and harness definitions with connectors, terminals and 3D routing.
• Ensure electrical designs integrate at machine level, resolving routing and interface constraints.
• Collaborate with project, build and validation teams throughout development.
• Investigate issues, determine root causes and implement robust design solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, prototype builds and engineering change activities.
• Support machine build, commissioning and validation programmes as required.
• Work across multiple projects in a dynamic development environment.

PE Global is currently recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer for a leading multi-national manufacturer of industrial machinery and engines for the construction and mining industries based in Peterborough. This is an initial 12 month contract position, based fully onsite in Peterborough.

Duties of the role/Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements and component information into detailed electrical designs for electrified machine systems and subsystems.
• Create and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams and harness definitions, covering connectors, terminals, pinouts, splices, cable and wire specification, 3D routing, flattening and production drawings.
• Ensure electrical designs integrate effectively at machine level, resolving routing, interface and installation constraints.
• Work closely with project, build and validation teams throughout the development process.
• Investigate build and integration issues, determine root causes and implement robust design solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, prototype builds and engineering change activities.
• Support machine build, commissioning and validation programmes as required.
• Work across multiple projects and priorities within a dynamic development environment.

Education/Experience

• Demonstrable experience delivering electrical design work within a product development environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of harness architecture and release, including component selection, connectivity definition and manufacturing documentation.
• Competence using Creo for harness routing and drawing creation.
• Able to produce clear, controlled engineering documentation and work within formal design-change processes. Understanding of HV electrical safety principles, including insulation coordination, and creepage and clearance.
• Background in automotive, off-highway, heavy-duty equipment, industrial machinery or a similar industry.
