Job summary

Morgan Hunt are seeking an Electrical Senior Design Engineer to join their Glasgow office on challenging, design consultancy projects across high-tech regulated industries, including cleanrooms and medical manufacturing facilities.

You will contribute to briefs, detailed design, documentation, site surveys and mentoring junior engineers, supporting delivery from cradle to grave on bespoke projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered status preferred or developing towards chartered with CIBSE or IET.
• 5–10 years experience in design consultancy or similar envrionment.
• Knowledge of electrical design within the built environment.
• Good report writing skills and experience presenting to clients.
• Detailed knowledge of standards, ability to lead deliverables and take initiative.
• Strong computer literacy across a range of digital tools.

Responsibilities

• Understand project briefs; design and specify Electrical Building Services systems.
• Prepare and review designs, specifications, assessment and survey reports.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections and monitor site works.
• Survey electrical services to establish status and propose new/upgrade designs.
• Assist with development of junior engineers; write reports and technical notes.

Morgan Hunt are currently working alongside one of Scotland's leading design and building contractors for an experienced Electrical / Senior Design Engineer to join their Glasgow office. This is a truly unique and interested opportunity to work on projects in high-tech regulated industries such as cleanrooms, research laboratories, medical manufacturing facilities and more. We are looking to speak with professional, technically driven engineers interested in honing their engineering skills on bespoke, challenging projects in specialist markets. If you have experience in these sectors then that is advantageous, however this is a great chance for an individual to move away from traditional building services projects, and improve your overall commercial awareness - seeing the full construction process in house from cradle to grave.

Role

• Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems.
• Preparation and review of documentation eg designs, specifications, assessment reports, survey reports.
• Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works
• Implementation of detailed surveys of electrical services and equipment to establish status of the existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposal
• Assisting with the development of junior engineers
• Report and technical note writing

Qualifications / Experience

• Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering
• Ideally chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
• 5-10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar envrionment.
• Knowledge of electrical design within the built environment.
• Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
• Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools
