Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Ltd is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for our Edinburgh office. You will lead the electrical design of building services from concept through to completion and specify LV power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm and related systems.

You will prepare calculations, specifications, reports and technical drawings, coordinating with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of BS 7671 and Building Regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership and project management skills.

Senior Electrical Engineer Building Services

Projects can vary from small works to £100m+ across Education, Heritage, High-End Residential, Cultural, Laboratories and more. You will get exposure to designing a wide range of electrical systems across multiple jobs and there is an excellent support system in place for staff training, development and progression. They are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services) to join their Edinburgh office.

Role

• Lead the electrical design of building services projects from concept through to completion.
• Design and specify LV power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, and associated electrical systems.
• Prepare calculations, specifications, reports, and technical drawings.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and project requirements.
• Review contractor submissions, undertake site inspections, and provide technical support during construction.
• Manage project deliverables, budgets, and programme requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Identify sustainable and energy-efficient design solutions.

Qualifications / Experience

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of BS 7671, Building Regulations, and industry standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
