Morgan Hunt UK Ltd is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer Building Services to join a leading MEP & Sustainability consultancy in Glasgow city centre. The role focuses on the design and specification of electrical building services across healthcare, education, data centres, and leisure projects.

You will lead calculations, client meetings, and site presence, ensuring high-quality design deliverables and adherence to standards.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• 5-10 years of experience in a design consultancy or similar environment.
• Knowledge of electrical design within the built environment.
• Strong report-writing skills with experience presenting to clients.
• Proficient with tools such as Trimble, Dialux, Excel, and related software.

Responsibilities

• Understand project briefs and design and specify Electrical Building Services systems (power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection).
• Produce detailed calculations using industry-standard software and in-house tools; manage others where required.
• Represent the organisation at client and contractor meetings.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections and monitor site works; maintain records to company standards.
• Prepare technical reports and notes; ensure quality, environmental and governance adherence.
• Maintain archives and documentation in accordance with processes.
• Contribute to and support project deliverables and team objectives.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer Building Services

A very successful independent MEP & Sustainability consultancy with a strong presence across the UK. A premium brand in the industry, with a solid track record of project delivery across sectors such as Healthcare, Education, Data Centres, Leisure and more. They are currently seeking an experienced mechanical candidate at either Principal or Associate Engineer level to join their modern, open plan Glasgow city centre office.

Role

• Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems .
• Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems - power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection etc.
• Carry out (and managing of others), in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, dialux, Amtech, in-house developed tools, etc.
• Representing the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
• Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
• Report and technical note writing.
• Maintaining complete records and archives to company standards.
• Adherence to all quality, environmental and governance processes.

Qualifications / Experience

• Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering
• 5-10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar environment.
• Knowledge of electrical design within the built environment.
• Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
• Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
