Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Ltd is partnering with a leading Scottish business to recruit an experienced Electrical / Senior Design Engineer for their Glasgow office. The role focuses on high-tech regulated environments, including cleanrooms, labs, and medical manufacturing facilities, offering an opportunity to move beyond traditional building services projects.

You will design, specify, and lead electrical building services, with responsibilities spanning documentation, site surveys, and client engagement.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered or working towards chartership with CIBSE or IET is desirable.
• 5-10 years experience in a design consultancy or similar environment.
• Knowledge of electrical design within built environment.
• Good report writing skills and ability to present to clients.

Responsibilities

• Understand project briefs and design/specify Electrical Building Services systems.
• Prepare and review designs, specifications, assessment reports, survey reports.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections and monitor site works.
• Conduct surveys of electrical services/equipment to inform upgrade proposals.
• Assist development of junior engineers.
• Prepare technical reports and notes.

Morgan Hunt are currently working alongside one of Scotland's top 100 businesses as they search for an experienced Electrical / Senior Design Engineer to join their Glasgow office. This is a truly unique and interested opportunity to work on projects in high-tech regulated industries such as cleanrooms, research laboratories, medical manufacturing facilities and more. We are looking to speak with professional, technically driven engineers interested in honing their engineering skills on bespoke, challenging projects in specialist markets. If you have experience in these sectors then that is advantageous, however this is a great chance for an individual to move away from traditional building services projects.

Role

• Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems.
• Preparation and review of documentation eg designs, specifications, assessment reports, survey reports.
• Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works
• Implementation of detailed surveys of electrical services and equipment to establish status of the existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposal
• Assisting with the development of junior engineers
• Report and technical note writing

Qualifications / Experience

• Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering
• Ideally chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
• 5-10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar envrionment.
• Knowledge of electrical design within the built environment.
• Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
• Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools
