Senior Staff Nurse-Gynae Outpatients
London: The Portland Hospital, 205 - 209 Great Portland St, London W1W 5AH
Hours: 37.5hrs pw (Mon-Sat)
shifts: Unit is open 8-8 Monday -Friday and 8-2 Saturday (Flexibility required to cover these hours)
Permanent contract

The Portland Hospital is recruiting for a Gynae Senior Staff Nurse to work within the Outpatients Department
Working in outpatients as a Senior Staff Nurse, you will need to assess, plan, deliver and implement a high standard of nursing care, whilst responding to individual needs.
To assist the departmental Sister to support the implementation of new initiatives within the Women’s Health Service and to represent the service in their absence.
To act as a point of contact for patients, Consultant, Junior Staff and administrative staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
To demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions.
Assist in the organisation of clinics to ensure smooth, efficient daily operations.
Work with junior staff / health care assistant / students and delegate and supervise care in a fair and equitable manner.
Recognise the signs and symptoms of a deteriorating patient and initiate early interventions in a calm and co-ordinated manner. Take the lead in emergency situations and carry out evaluation of care post emergency care situations.
Take overall responsibility for ensuring nursing procedures reflect evidence-based practice by continuously participating in the review of policies/ procedures/ protocols and guidelines.
Ensure that appropriate nursing procedures are implemented in accordance to HCA nursing policies and competency frameworks, NMC and National Guidelines.
To provide advice and information to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to women in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate patient centred care.
Support departmental Sister by providing day to day shift co-ordination of the department, nursing leadership, guidance and expert clinical advice.
To oversee care provided by registered and non-registered staff within their sphere of responsibility.

What you’ll bring
NMC Registered
Demonstrable experience /knowledge as a Registered Nurse
Experience/Qualification in Gynaecology
Competent in venepuncture-Desirable
Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
Knowledge of relevant NMC/national guidelines, policies and procedures (Code of conduct)
ILS trained
