Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Coventry

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

The DRVN Automotive Group is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team based in Coventry.

The successful candidate will have senior-level experience in planning and delivering multiple vehicle lines, with a thorough understanding of the end-to-end production process from concept to delivery.

The key responsibilities include supporting the setup and layout of production lines, applying lean manufacturing principles, maintaining safe and documented control systems, and facilitating automotive manufacturing assemblies with a Right First-Time approach. You will also contribute to the efficiency of manufacturing operations across sites in Coventry, Newton Aycliffe, and Andover, while coaching and leading team members.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all company policies and health & safety protocols
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and suppliers to optimize manufacturability
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and achieve manufacturing engineering targets
• Develop and maintain documentation, tooling, and process flowcharts
• Prepare capital expenditure estimates and evaluate equipment and tooling costs
• Implement and improve documentation, tooling, and training processes
• Procure tooling, equipment, and materials through internal systems
• Specify equipment and make technical recommendations
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to optimize operations
• Investigate and validate new process technologies and methods
• Communicate effectively with manufacturing and production teams to resolve issues
• Mentor and support less experienced engineers
• Implement 5S initiatives

Essential Skills

• HNC or equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering
• Minimum 5 years' experience in an automotive/manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles
• Experience with Body in White and carbon fibre
• Proficiency in CAD software
• Commitment to quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., IATF16949, ISO9001)
• Experience in creating work instructions, process flows, and managing change processes
• Ability to identify risks and implement safe, effective processes
• Understanding of BOMs and change management
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5S principles
• Effective communication skills across departments and with suppliers
• Proven project management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites in Newton Aycliffe and Andover
• Full rights to work in the UK (IDLR/Full Settlement status); sponsorship not provided
