Job description

The DRVN Automotive Group is recruiting for an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team based in Coventry.

The role involves supporting the setup and layout of production lines, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and ensuring safe, documented control systems to facilitate automotive manufacturing with a Right First-Time approach. You will contribute to the efficiency of manufacturing operations across multiple sites in Coventry, Newton Aycliffe, and Andover, while coaching and leading team members.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all company policies and health and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and suppliers to optimize manufacturability.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities to meet manufacturing engineering targets.
• Develop and implement documentation processes, tooling, and change management.
• Ensure all product information (BOP, PFMEA, Process Flow, Work Instructions) is current.
• Prepare capital expenditure estimates for new and existing products.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives for documentation, tooling, equipment, and training.
• Procure tooling, equipment, and materials as needed.
• Specify equipment and recommend technical selections.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve effectiveness.
• Investigate and validate new process technologies and methods.
• Communicate effectively with production and other departments to resolve concerns.
• Support and mentor less experienced engineers.
• Implement 5S initiatives.

Minimum qualifications include HNC or equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, at least 5 years of automotive/manufacturing experience, and a strong understanding of manufacturing principles, especially Body in White and carbon fiber processes. Candidates must have a full UK work rights status, be willing to travel, and possess a clean driving license.
