Description
To effectively manage a portfolio of litigated RTA Small Claims Track files under the supervision and guidance of a Team Leader/Technical Supervisor.
Candidates are required to have experience managing a fully litigated RTA caseload. The role involves handling both quantum and liability Small Claims cases efficiently and proactively, utilizing effective telephone negotiation techniques to obtain appropriate settlements.
Induction training will be provided, along with ongoing support and mentoring from the Team Leader/Technical Supervisor.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage a caseload of litigated RTA Small Claims Track cases, ensuring Court deadlines are met through effective planning and organization.
- Deliver performance targets and maintain quality standards.
- Analyze available evidence to develop initial case strategies on liability and quantum.
- Conduct effective telephone negotiations with clients, Defendants, third-party insurers, and Solicitors to pursue efficient and appropriate case settlements and cost apportionment.
- Proof witnesses, assess evidence, and draft statements.
- Draft Court documents and ensure all deadlines are met.
- Instruct, brief, and liaise with Counsel.
- Guide Defendants through the litigation process and set expectations.
- Maintain case management, billing, and management information systems accurately and timely.
- Delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
- Handle correspondence and calls within service level agreements.
- Update reports upon receipt of new evidence.
- Adhere to Client Guidelines and ISO 9001 standards.
- Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.
Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
Primary location: Bolton, Parklands Office.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Established file handling experience within a law practice.
- Good understanding of the Highway Code and basic Road Traffic Act principles.
- Ability to plan and prioritize workloads.
- Efficiency in a process-driven environment.
- Drive to achieve and develop with a positive attitude.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Sensitivity and tact when needed.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Basic knowledge of Court Practice Rules.
