Job summary

Oasis Academy Lister Park in Bradford is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide personalised 1:1 SEN support, helping pupils access the curriculum and adapt learning to individual needs. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure effective provision and monitor progress toward learning goals.

You will also deliver pastoral support and contribute to safeguarding, collaborating across teams to support pupils’ overall development and achievement.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification required.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN and managing behaviours.
• Awareness of safeguarding and SEN policies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 SEN support to pupils in accessing the curriculum.
• Monitor progress and feed back to class teacher.
• Deliver pastoral support as part of the pupil's well-being.

Job description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant practitioner to join our team, providing key SEN support within the classroom on a 1:1 basis and working closely with other teaching staff to ensure provision is effective and that learning needs are met.

Job Overview

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll provide personalised SEN provision on a 1:1 basis, supporting the pupil in accessing the curriculum at an appropriate level and adapting the learning to make it accessible for students with specific needs. This role also involves providing pastoral support, and you'll monitor progress to feed back to the class teacher whilst working closely with relevant staff to ensure an individual can achieve to the fullest extent.

Job Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent as a minimum
• GCSE English and Maths at C grade or above
• Experience of supporting pupils with SEN and utilising strategies to manage behaviours and meet needs, including supporting speech and language
• Awareness of Child Safeguarding and the latest SEN policies to implement effective provision, including working with outside agencies to deliver EHCP provisions
• Ability to effectively communicate on the pupil's progress, with strong written and verbal communication skills
