Job summary

SENse Learning in the United Kingdom is seeking dedicated Education Assistants to provide one-to-one mentoring and learning support for SEND learners. You’ll work across home-based and community settings using our EHCP-based curriculum to help learners thrive and engage fully with education.

You will foster confidence, emotional regulation, and essential life skills while operating in a flexible, self-employed capacity with DBS and references in place.

Qualifications

• Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with children or young people with complex additional needs.
• Background: Suitable backgrounds include Support Worker, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant (TA) or related roles.
• Approach: Child-centred, holistic way; able to adapt curriculum to individual students.
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS and 2+ professional references.
• Location: Based in the UK with right to work.
• Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and safe learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong, positive relationships with children and young people who may have faced challenges in prior education settings.
• Provide one-to-one support in homes and community settings with creative activities.
• Support life skills, confidence and independence.
• Use trauma‑informed approaches to support a range of needs.
• Model and encourage emotional regulation.
• Provide feedback to track progress and adapt support as needed.
