Job summary

MDPI in Manchester is seeking an Assistant Editor to join our Editorial team. This entry-level, full-time, in-office role offers training and exposure to the scholarly publishing process from submission to publication.

You will work closely with Managing Editors, coordinate peer review, and communicate with authors and reviewers. A PhD or Master’s in Plant Sciences is preferred, and you should be keen to develop a career in open access publishing.

Qualifications

• A PhD (preferred) or Master’s degree in Plant Sciences or related fields.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Team player capable of working in an international environment.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Very good communication and coordination skills.
• Interest in working face-to-face with scholarly community and open access.

Responsibilities

• Support the editorial process for journals in your domain of expertise.
• Organize peer review and coordinate editorial decisions.
• Handle email communication between parties in the publication process.
• Collaborate with editorial and production teams.
• Ensure articles are edited and published with high consistency under deadlines.
