Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Consultant Ecologist for a Middlesbrough-based role offering hybrid working. You will deliver ecological projects from initial site assessments through to reporting and specialist advice.

The role includes habitat and protected species surveys, Biodiversity Net Gain involvement, and high-quality technical reporting while supporting clients through the planning process. A permanent position with ongoing professional development and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline
• Previous experience working within an ecological consultancy
• Practical experience undertaking ecological and/or protected species surveys
• Strong technical report-writing and communication skills
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
• Full right to work in the UK
• Living in Middlesbrough or within a reasonable commuting distance

Responsibilities

As a Consultant Ecologist, you will be responsible for delivering a diverse range of ecological projects, from initial site assessments through to reporting and providing specialist advice. You will undertake a variety of habitat and protected species surveys, contribute to Biodiversity Net Gain projects, prepare high-quality technical reports and support clients throughout the planning process.
