Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Consultant Ecologist for a Middlesbrough-based role offering hybrid working. You will deliver ecological projects from initial site assessments through to reporting and specialist advice.

The role includes habitat and protected species surveys, Biodiversity Net Gain involvement, and high-quality technical reporting while supporting clients through the planning process. A permanent position with ongoing professional development and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline
• Previous experience working within an ecological consultancy
• Practical experience undertaking ecological and/or protected species surveys
• Strong technical report-writing and communication skills
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
• Full right to work in the UK
• Living in Middlesbrough or within a reasonable commuting distance

Responsibilities

• Deliver a range of ecological projects from site assessments through to reporting and specialist advice.
• Undertake habitat and protected species surveys and contribute to Biodiversity Net Gain projects.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports and support clients throughout the planning process.
