A leading construction contractor is seeking an Environmental Manager for their projects in Yorkshire and East Midlands, offering a mix of site visits and remote work. The ideal candidate will have experience in environmental management, focusing on sustainability and compliance within construction. Environmental Manager- Construction / Building/ Civils – Yorkshire / East Mids Sites + Remote Work.
Ideal opportunity for someone already with previous main contractor employment (not essential) or Ecologists and Environmental Consultants also considered with a view of transferring experience over to main contractor side - good opportunity for career progression.
Mix of visiting sites predominately in Yorkshire and some East midlands.
Also with a mix of remote work.

Role & Duties:
Reporting to: Senior Environmental Manager
Duties:
As Environmental Manager your duties will include:
-Providing specialist environmental support for bid / tender submissions.
-Providing detailed support during the preconstruction phase to ensure projects consider and plan for
environmental and sustainability best practice.
-Undertaking pre-start checks by reviewing preconstruction information and assessing areas of risk and appropriate mitigation measures.
-Applying for necessary environmental regulatory permissions.
-Developing environmental risk assessments.
-Developing Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs).
-Developing supplementary project specific environmental management plans (e.g., Water Management Plans and Nuisance Management Plans), wherever needed.
-Reviewing and improving environmentally high-risk method statements.
-Providing specialist environmental support to our project teams during the construction phase.
-Monitoring environmental performance against the requirements of the company Environmental Policies and standards.
-Supporting the Senior Environmental Manager in setting the agenda for company environmental performance improvement across all operational sectors.
-Conducting environmental incident investigations and liaising with regulatory bodies in the management of environmental incidents as well as communicating lessons learned across the business.
-Supporting the maintenance of the company environmental management system.
-Supporting working groups (e.g., sustainability groups) to enhance the strategic environmental and
sustainability objectives and commitments.
-Providing specialist support to operational teams concerning relevant changes to environmental legislation.
-Ensuring compliance with legislation, company standards and ISO 14001 requirements and best practice through regular audits, reporting and coaching.
-Influencing the supply chain to comply with company environmental requirements, policies and best practice initiatives.
-Supporting third party environmental audits to ensure compliance.
-Developing and disseminating environmental good practice initiatives by undertaking regular CPD sessions e.g., webinars; forums; training courses; regular supply chain engagement.
-Delivering environmental training to operational and support teams e.g., spill response / SEATS.
-Disseminating relevant environmental information and innovation across the company i.e., developing environmental alerts / bulletins / regulatory updates.
-Supporting operational teams in the effective implementation of all relevant regulatory permissions e.g., environmental permits; consents; exemptions.
-Supporting site teams to conduct environmental performance monitoring e.g., water, dust, noise.
-Be the point of contact and support to operational teams, as required, with site visits as required.
Requirements:
To be considered for this Environmental Manager role you must meet the following criteria:
Remuneration:
The successful Environmental Manager will receive:
-£40,000 - £55,000 basic salary (Dependent on experience)
