Job description

We are in search of a Payroll & HR Specialist responsible for delivering the full range of payroll transactional processes and providing practical, solutions-focused payroll advice to managers and employees. Reporting to the Associate Director of Payroll & Reward, you will ensure payroll operations—including processing, compliance, and reporting—are carried out accurately and efficiently.

As our HR Specialist, you will manage core aspects of the employee lifecycle at eMed, from onboarding to offboarding. Additionally, you will oversee company benefits, assist with employee relations, and support HR systems administration, advisory tasks, and coordination efforts.

You should have solid experience across HR disciplines such as HR administration, benefits, payroll, immigration, and employee relations, along with a strong background in working with HR programs and systems.

This role is based in our London Head Office, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week. Our operating hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
  1. Maintain understanding of payroll legislation and ensure compliance with HMRC and other statutory bodies, as well as internal policies.
  2. Accurately process and maintain employee data using payroll and HR systems like BambooHR, Paycheck, and Service Now.
  3. Build strong relationships with Clinical Operations and the Senior Leadership Team to support cohesive business operations.
  4. Stay updated on legislative changes and payroll best practices, sharing knowledge proactively.
  5. Create and update process documentation reflecting policy, procedure, or legislative changes.
  6. Prepare payroll instructions for external vendors ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  7. Provide high-quality advice on employee lifecycle and HR processes at an operational level.
  8. Support employee relations activities, ensuring legal compliance and professional communication.
  9. Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files with high data integrity.
  10. Deliver excellent customer service, resolving employee and manager queries efficiently.
  11. Advise on employee benefits and policies, offering tailored guidance as needed.
  12. Manage transactional activities across the employee lifecycle and identify process improvement opportunities.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in payroll and HR, handling sensitive information in compliance with data protection laws.
  2. Strong understanding of employment and payroll legislation, including taxes, benefits, and pension schemes.
  3. Excellent time management and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities accurately.
  4. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  5. Customer-focused approach, committed to stakeholder satisfaction.
  6. Experience supporting Employee Relations in fast-paced sectors like retail, telecom, or tech.
  7. Proficiency with multiple HRIS platforms and systems.
  8. Disciplined handling of confidential information.
  9. Excellent communication skills, with ability to explain complex issues clearly.
