Job summary

Carrington West is seeking experienced Earthworks Examiners to support Network Rail examinations across the York and London regions. You will plan, manage and undertake Earthwork Examinations in line with NR/L3/CIV/065, liaising with Access Planning teams to finalise access and Safe Work Packs.

Applicants should hold COSS or IWA competency, NR Level 3 Soil/ Rock Slope Examinations, and be proficient with JBA database and GizMapp.

Qualifications

• COSS or IWA competency required for railway work
• Knowledge of CIV/065 examination standards
• Experience producing earthwork examinations for CIV/065
• Familiarity with JBA database and GizMapp tools
• Understanding of Network Rail geography and operations

Earthworks Examiners - Network Rail Experience Required

York - £427/day
London - £446/day

We are looking for experienced Earthworks Examiners / Geotechnical professionals to support the delivery of Earthwork Examinations across the rail network.

The role will involve planning, managing and undertaking Earthwork Examinations in accordance with NR/L3/CIV/065 - Examination of Earthworks Manual.

Key responsibilities

• Undertaking desk-based site reconnaissance to establish appropriate access strategies for Earthwork Examinations
• Liaising with Access Planning teams to finalise access arrangements, logistics and Safe Work Packs
• Planning access opportunities, possessions and worksites and identifying opportunities for integration
• Undertaking and completing Earthwork Examinations in accordance with NR/L3/CIV/065
• Completing on-site activities safely and efficiently in accordance with Safe Systems of Work, method statements and relevant Network Rail standards
• Accurately recording completed and outstanding work
• Closing out rejected examinations and responding to examination feedback
• Supporting the wider Geotechnical Examination Team with delivery requirements

Essential requirements

• COSS or IWA competency allowing you to work on the operational railway
• Previously assessed to Network Rail Level 3 Soil Slope Examinations (GEO-I-S)
• Previously assessed to Network Rail Level 3 Rock Slope Examinations (GEO-I-R)
• Experience using the JBA database and GizMapp
• Proven experience producing high-quality Earthwork Examinations to CIV/065 standard
• Knowledge of relevant railway geography and network capability

Rates

• York: £427 per day
• London: £446 per day
