Teaching Assistant – Early Years

Position: Early Years Teaching Assistant

Location: Leeds

Type: Long Term Temporary

Hours: Full time

Hays Education West Yorkshire division is looking to appoint an Early Years Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Leeds. This role is full-time and until the end of the academic year, suited for a Level 3 qualified teaching assistant committed to the role until then.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent support to early years children within the classroom
• Engage children with educational activities and manage transitions
• Monitor and support children’s safety and assist with self-care tasks
• Set up engaging activities around the EYFS framework
• Promote the Read Write Inc phonics scheme, supported by the class teacher

Requirements:

• Experience working with children in EYFS
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
• Ability to manage challenging behaviors calmly and effectively
• Relevant qualifications in education or childcare, or recent experience within the last two years
• Experience delivering phonics support
