Position: Early Years Teaching Assistant

Location: Wakefield

Type: Long Term Temporary

Hours: Full time

Hays Education West Yorkshire division are looking to appoint an Early Years Teaching Assistant for a Primary school in the Wakefield area.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a nursery early years (EYFS) class on a full-time basis until the end of the academic year. This role is best suited to a level 3 qualified teaching assistant who can commit until the end of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent support to early years children within the classroom
• Engage children with educational activities and manage transitions
• Monitor and support children’s safety, assist with self-care tasks
• Set up engaging activities around the EYFS framework
• Promote the use of Read Write Inc phonics scheme, supported by the class teacher

Requirements:

• Experience working with children in EYFS
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
• Ability to manage challenging behaviours calmly and effectively
• Relevant qualifications in education or childcare, or recent relevant experience
• Experience delivering phonics support
