Job summary

Newcastle City Council is seeking an Early Help Adviser within the Community Family Offer division. You will work with universal services and partner agencies to ensure effective Team Around the Family and deliver change for babies, children, young people and families.

You will be skilled in stakeholder relationships, provide advice and challenge, and contribute to multiagency policies while benefiting from training and development opportunities.

About The Role

As an Early Help Adviser within the Children & Families Directorate, you’ll play a vital role in helping us deliver change across the agenda for babies, children, young people and families – working with universal servcies and other agencies to ensure that there is an effective Team Around the Family.

As a member of our Early Help Adviser team, you will:

• Be skilled in development of excellent stakeholder relationships
• Be comfortable providing advice, support and challenge, to a range of practitioners and service managers from partner agencies, particularly those in universal services, in undertaking an integrated working approach to families with complex needs
• Provide solution-focussed case consultancy on complex cases
• Contribute to the strategic planning, development and implementation of multiagency policies and procedures relating to integrated working
• Champion relational and restorative practice

This role with sit within the Early Help team in our Community Family Offer division and will report to the Early Help Coordinator. It is a vital and valued role within the team and this is reflected in the training and development opportunities available to the successful candidate.

We are looking for the very best people to lead our work with children and families. Getting it right means making a meaningful difference to the lives of babies, children and young people in Newcastle. You will be an excellent communicator with strong influencing and negotiating skills; with a keen interest in understanding how things work and a drive to make things better.

You will be highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively. You will enjoy being part of a wider team and also comfortable taking ownership of tasks. You will have a successful track record of integrated working with some managerial/supervisory/coaching experience.

You will be able to evidence a good understanding of integrated assessment processes including Early Help and local safeguarding procedures. On a personal level, you’ll work with honesty and integrity and be committed to ensuring that babies, children, young people and families have the strengths, assets and services that they need to thrive.
