Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Location: Slough, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Telent plays a crucial role in enabling everyday technology, from internet surfing to transportation. We are seeking an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities in designated areas such as the top of M25, M4, M11, and the bottom of M1, A14, M40, A1(M).

This role involves working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve field problems. Our field teams are vital in delivering maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works, ensuring the nation's critical infrastructure remains connected and protected 24/7.

Responsibilities include:

• Attending and repairing cable breaks on copper and fibre cables.
• Completing all commissioning of equipment to standard, on time, and within budget.
• Addressing equipment issues in transmission buildings and roadside cabinets within your area, day or night.
• Performing general maintenance, commissioning, and testing on fibre and copper cables.
• Completing necessary documentation promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

Key Skills:

• Experience with motorway communications or related systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, and fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Availability for overtime or callouts as required.
• Full UK driving licence.
