Colchester Hospital is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Biochemistry to join our team on a maternity cover until 15/03/2026.
Qualifications and Experience:
Knowledge and Skills:
In-depth knowledge of modern Biochemistry laboratory requirements and previous experience working within a Biochemistry Department.
Laboratory Equipment and Service:
We are equipped with Roche Cobas 8000 analysers (c702/e801), P612 pre-analytics, and NORTSTAR BIO-UV analyser. As the spoke lab for ESNEFT, we operate a 24/7 service, and participation in the out-of-hours rota (which attracts night rate enhancement) is required.

Role Responsibilities:
Due to the nature of the work, staff will handle human body fluids, tissues, and hazardous chemicals, including blood, pus, urine, feces, and respiratory secretions.
