The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership’s (ESEL) Haematology Department has exciting vacancies for Specialist Biomedical Scientists across our partnership sites.
We seek strong team players with a positive attitude, flexible working skills, and a commitment to supporting clinical services and patient needs through a 24-hour Agenda for Change shift system.
The successful candidates will be based at one of the following sites, with the possibility of supporting other ESEL sites based on service demand:
All laboratories are UKAS accredited, utilizing Winpath LIMS, with Sysmex systems in Haematology and Coagulation, and Bio-Rad and Grifols analysers for Blood Transfusion—the largest Blood Transfusion department in the UK.
The Haematology section at RLH features Bio-rad Variant II and Sebia Capillarys systems. The Haemostasis section offers extensive testing for conditions like haemophilia, sickle cell anaemia, thalassaemia, and paediatric haematology, supporting Barts Health’s Comprehensive Care Centres.

Requirements: Candidates must be registered with the HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist and have completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio. Those without the Specialist Diploma may be considered under an Annex 21 contract, with training support provided for diploma completion, including day and night shifts.
The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership provides services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. It operates with a hub-and-spoke model, with the Royal London Hospital as the main hub.
