Job Opportunity: Molecular Pathology Specialist

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join an expanding, dynamic Molecular Pathology service within the Cellular Pathology department.

As a HCPC-registered BMS with current Histology experience, you will have the chance to develop your specialist diagnostic interests with the support of a dedicated team.

We are the designated Kent & Medway Cellular Pathology Genomic Centre. The successful candidate will join a team working in purpose-built facilities within modern hospitals. Fully accredited to ISO15189:2022, we offer a wide range of specialist diagnostic and predictive tests, including a digital FISH HER-2 service. Opportunities to participate in this and other departmental services are available.

Applicants should hold a Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology, with experience in routine Histopathology, immunohistochemistry, troubleshooting, and team supervision. Excellent communication skills and a friendly attitude are essential.

Note: Experience in routine Histology is mandatory. Candidates within one year of completing their diploma are encouraged to apply, subject to Annex 21 until qualification is obtained.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform complex techniques such as FISH and PCR on tissue samples, ensuring quality and validation of tests.
  2. Interpret FISH results independently and produce reports for clinicians.
  3. Assess FISH cases and escalate complex decisions as needed.
  4. Maintain and troubleshoot automated systems, liaising with service engineers.
  5. Lead a team to ensure high standards and timely, accurate results.
