Percival is excited to be working exclusively with EMPOWER to help them recruit for a new & Catering Manager to join their vibrant team.

Empower Youth Zones is the charity that oversees the creation, management, and sustainability of both HideOut in Gorton, Manchester, and Salford Youth Zone (SYZ) in Pendleton, Salford. This is an incredibly exciting time for the network as SYZ gets ready to open its doors to the public in the summer of 2025!

The Youth Zones are open 7 days a week, offering a free hot meal and over 20 activities every night for just 50p per visit for young people aged 8-19 and up to 25 with additional needs. Their facilities include a 3G pitch, climbing wall, gym, sports hall, recreation area, and dance, arts, music, and media suites.

Job Title: Catering Manager

Reports to: Director of Operations

Working Pattern: Full Time, Permanent

Location: HideOut Youth Zone (Gorton, M12)

In this role, you will be responsible for catering to all members of HideOut Youth Zone. You will lead all aspects of an inspiring, healthy, and cost-effective catering service, including line managing Catering Assistants. The café is a vital part of their offer for young people (aged 8-19, up to 25 for those with additional needs), and the canteen area must be a warm and welcoming space for all.

The role involves creating, preparing, and cooking inspiring, innovative, and appealing dishes that are low cost. The post holder must be passionate about local produce, minimizing food waste, have a “can do” attitude, and relate well to young people.

To be successful, you will have:

• Experience managing a sustainable service, including pricing, providing a popular menu, working within a strict budget, and minimizing waste
• Experience in cash handling, stock control, and ordering
• Experience working with/mentoring a team of volunteers
• An Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate
• Experience managing a wide range of meals for young people
