Summary of the opportunity: Canonical seeks a remote marketing communications specialist in the European Union with a degree in marketing, business, or humanities. The candidate should be passionate about technology marketing, with strong communication skills and social media proficiency. Responsibilities include developing and publishing content, engaging audiences, and supporting Canonical's social media growth. We’re looking for an energetic and creative colleague to join our communications team. The ideal candidate is driven to learn, improve, and develop campaign concepts that make our brand stand out on social media. This entry-level role offers opportunities to build a career with a community-focused brand involved in various aspects of the modern technology stack.

Our social media channels serve as a bridge between our product creators and users, engaging millions of audiences worldwide—developers, tech enthusiasts, security engineers, and more. Our marketing team aims to create meaningful conversations around open source, Kubernetes, AI, and other topics.

The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and marketing, eager to gain campaign ownership experience, and collaborative. They should enjoy learning, problem-solving, experimenting, measuring, and automating tasks. To succeed, they must be driven, organized, and detail-oriented.

This role reports to the Director of Communications and is based remotely within the EMEA region.

What your day will look like
  • Develop, schedule, and publish content across social media platforms
  • Share updates and report on social media metrics and campaign performance
  • Support audience growth and engagement on Canonical’s social media channels
  • Create compelling copy and assets aligned with the brand
  • Execute A/B and multivariate growth tests
  • Engage with the community and moderate platforms
  • Create awareness for campaigns, product launches, webinars, and industry news
  • Package Canonical’s product and educational content creatively
What we are looking for in you
  • Understanding of social media and communication best practices
  • Experience with social media management tools like Sprout Social; knowledge of analytics tools like Google Analytics is a plus
  • Proficiency in at least four social media platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit)
  • Analytical skills and content performance awareness
  • Understanding of educational content funnels and video marketing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Experience with project management tools like Jira is advantageous
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
