This position is within the Canonical team, a fast-growing international software company.

We’re looking for an energetic and creative colleague to join our communications team. The ideal person for this role may not have extensive experience but is driven to learn, improve, and develop campaign concepts that make our brand stand out on social media. This entry-level role offers the chance to build a career with a community-focused brand involved in modern technology.

Our social media channels connect the makers of our products with users worldwide. Our audiences include developers, tech enthusiasts, security engineers, and more. From #opensource to K8s, launch previews to cool swag, our marketing team fosters conversations across the globe.

The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and its marketing, eager to gain campaign ownership experience, and collaborative. They enjoy learning, problem-solving, experimenting, measuring, and automating tasks. To succeed, they must be driven, organized, and detail-oriented.

This role reports to the director of communications within the communications team.

Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

What your day will look like

  1. Develop, schedule, and publish content across social media platforms
  2. Share updates and report on social media metrics and campaign results
  3. Support audience growth and engagement on Canonical’s social channels
  4. Create compelling copy and assets aligned with the brand
  5. Execute A/B and multivariate growth tests
  6. Engage with audiences and moderate communities
  7. Coordinate awareness campaigns for product launches, webinars, and industry news
  8. Package Canonical’s offerings and educational content creatively

What we are looking for in you

  • Knowledge of social media and communication best practices
  • Experience with social media management tools like Sprout Social; familiarity with analytics tools like Google Analytics is a plus
  • Proficiency in at least four platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit)
  • Analytical mindset and understanding of content performance
  • Experience with educational content and video marketing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Experience with project management tools like Jira is advantageous
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for events
