Area Sales Manager North East, Yorkshire & South Yorkshire – Process Control & Automation up to c. £55K base plus open-ended Bonus, Quality Car or allowance, Pension, Private Medical, Life Assurance, Business Expenses. Fantastic opportunity to join a market-leading and progressive company in the automation and control sector as an Area Sales Engineer for Process Control & Automation products.

One of the leading providers of innovative sensors, automation, instrumentation, remote I/O, Fieldbus, Intrinsically Safe, explosion-protected, Hazardous Area certified, ATEX solutions, and other complementary automation products and components with leading customer service and expert support.

The Role

As a technical sales engineer / field sales engineer, your goal is to achieve profitable sales of the process automation range of products into existing and new customers throughout Tyne & Wear, County Durham, East Yorkshire, and South Yorkshire. You will sell to a variety of customer types such as Panel Builders, System Integrators, OEMs, and End Users, both directly and via a Partner Distribution Network. You will manage an established customer base and develop new opportunities.

You will receive comprehensive ongoing product training. The role is field-based, working closely with the sales team, sales managers, and distribution partners. Candidates located within the territory are preferred, ideally centrally located with good road access, but excellent candidates from anywhere within the territory will be considered.

The Candidate

For this technical field sales engineer position, candidates MUST have:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with a passion for building lasting client relationships.
  • Business-to-business (B2B) field sales experience as an Area Sales Engineer, Area Sales Manager, Sales Development, or Business Development Manager within control & automation, process automation, or process instrumentation products.
  • Proven sales success, preferably with experience in industries such as oil & gas, pharmaceutical, chemical, energy & utilities, achieving specifications, winning suppliers, and securing business.
  • An engineering qualification in a relevant subject such as ONC, HNC, or Degree level in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
