Job description

The Peterborough School (TPS) is an Independent Day School delivering exceptional education and nurturing children from Nursery through to Sixth Form.The School is set in beautiful and historic grounds with excellent facilities, in the heart of Peterborough, benefitting from both superb transport links and our own secure car park.

Required for June 2025.

The School is seeking a well-qualified and talented individual who will deliver a safe and efficient IT environment to our staff and pupils.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Network Manager, taking responsibility for the maintenance and support of the School’s network, IT systems, and users. They will ensure all systems run as expected and support the School’s strategic objectives and educational goals.

This role is full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Reporting to the Network Manager and the Head of Computing and Digital Strategy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for who you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
  • To respond quickly to IT support queries and issues.
  • To assist the Network Manager in ensuring the effective running of IT systems.
  • Maintain and repair computer and computer-peripherals.
  • To provide first line support to users.
  • Provide classroom support where IT is used in the classroom.
  • To log and maintain support requests on the school IT ticketing system.
  • Maintain all software applications used in school, both curriculum and administrative.
  • Provide Audio/Visual technical support as required.Depending on qualifications and experience, support for drama and theatre productions may be included in the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and keep in good running order, all computer devices and printers on the school premises.
  • Ensure that all hardware and software are installed, updated and that machines are rebuilt where required.
  • Manage the printing system.
  • Follow administrative procedures and carry out IT ‘housekeeping’ functions and maintain network records.
  • Help maintain an accurate asset record of all IT equipment and a log of all software licenses.
  • Liaise with staff to set up and assist in the delivery of assemblies and meetings.
  • To maintain the stock of IT consumables
  • Keep up to date with any training requirements.
  • Show flexibility and a willingness to undertake various tasks of an “ad hoc” nature that are outside of the scope of your normal duties.
  • You may also be required to undertake such other comparable duties as the Headmaster requires from time to time.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

Essential:

·Grade C or above in GCSE Maths & English

Desirable:

·Appropriate ICT qualifications

·Educated to A level (or Microsoft certified professional) or above

Experience:

Essential:

·Experience of Windows and iOS systems

·Basic fault finding and diagnosis for both desktop PCs, laptops, tablets and print services

Desirable:

·Basic hardware repair

·Knowledge of networks

·School IT support

·Theatre technical systems

Skills:

·Appropriate communication skills

·Ability to work independently

Desirable:

·Confidence

·Good problem-solving skills

Knowledge:

Essential:

·Excellent knowledge of Windows OS (10 and above) and MS Office (365)

·Understanding of cloud-based working

·Good knowledge of Microsoft server and domain services including MDT, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, File Services, Cloud Services, Devices management and Print services
