Job description

Driver Hire Newcastle & Sunderland is looking to recruit a service technician for one of our clients in South Tyneside on a temp to perm contract for the right candidate.

Responsibilities include:

1. Carrying out comprehensive safety checks, including testing, maintenance, and calibration of all hire and customer-owned equipment, ensuring all necessary documents are completed both physically and digitally.
2. Managing workloads, prioritising work efficiently and effectively.
3. Repairing surveying equipment, including construction lasers.
4. Maintaining the workshop and equipment, ensuring sufficient volumes of core hire equipment are available, and maintaining stock of spare parts.
5. Providing support to customers and their national teams via telephone and email.
6. Attending internal and external training courses as required.
7. Raising purchase orders, quoting customers based on estimations, and organising distribution.

Full training on the equipment and systems will be provided both in-house and by manufacturers for official certification.

Ideal candidate:

1. High level of IT literacy.
2. Experience in the hire and survey industry is beneficial.
3. Desire to deliver results and ability to work under pressure.
4. Understanding of electronics and use of multimeters and test equipment.
5. Drive and motivation to learn, with a problem-solving attitude.
6. Good communication skills and team-oriented mindset.
7. Full UK Driving Licence preferred.

Working hours are Monday - Friday, 07:30 - 16:30.

Salary is competitive and based on experience.
